One of the the oldest spots on the Place du Tertre that has not had a change of owner for several decades. You will not find it in any tourist guide which is hard to believe considering that it is located in one of the most visited tourist attractions.
The cuisine is traditional and the menu has hardly changed over the years and if you like it the meat will please you. On nice days you can go into the garden and you will be transported away from Paris and especially from the busy Place du Tertre. In the afternoon they serve tea and pastries.

This is a place where I go very often during summer as soon as it is hot in Paris. The area is not very central but the place is really nice and they serve good food. I have walked next to it hundred of times without noticing ! with no doubt, very hidden! 223 rue St Martin in the 3rd distric (Marais Beaubourg) don't miss next time you pass by I did!
The passage was restored less than ten years ago, and with its numerous plants you instantly feel like you're somewhere else, like a village. In the past it was called the passage de l'Ancre-Royale, then the passage l'Ancre-Nationale. Where does the name come from? Around 1637 there was an inn called Au Grand Saint Pierre run by Nicolas Sauvage. M. Sauvage was the first to invent the system of 'fiacres', the precursor of the taxi. Some of them were permanently reserved for the Royal Marines, hence the name.
Nowadays, the passage has a few workshops, one for kids and another for cooking: l'Atelier de Fréd (Fréd rose to minor fame after a TV show documented his culinary travels around the world).

The 7th arrondissement is blessed with more open markets than any arrondissement in Paris. Rue Cler is especially convenient for the neighborhood because it is open on Sunday mornings. Many families attend mass at 11am at St. Pierre du Gros Caillou on rue de Grenelle, then head immediately to rue Cler for their baguettes, cheese, bottle of wine, cuts of meat, and desserts. Get there early as it becomes extremely crowded after 11am on Sundays. Being near rue Cler is one of the great pleasures of living in Paris, whether for a week or a lifetime.
Rue Cler Market: Open weekdays, all day Saturday, Sunday mornings. Many of the stores are closed on Mondays.

It is not a secret place but less visited by foreign visitors than the Printemps and Galeries Lafayete. It is so old fashion (founded in 1838) and I love it! It is Paris' Oldest and most chic department store in the left bank.

Ice skating in Paris during Christmas!

Every winter (from middle of December to early March) there is a free outdoor ice skating rink constructed at the Hotel de Ville (City Hall) located in the 4th district. This is such a beautiful setting to have an outdoor ice rink as not only is it closeby to the Seine but also one can skate while observing some beautiful buildings. In case you are not a skater and just a spectator, well, that is alot of fun too. You can be part of the crowd anyway.

The prettiest movie theater in Paris, La Pagode, has an excellent programming and if you are lucky enough, you will enjoy a cup of tea in the Japanese Garden but don't tell anyone as they want to keep the place very confidential : 57 rue de Babylone 75007.

A listed building, the Pagoda has had an eventful history. It dates back to the 19th century when it was bought, deconstructed, and brought back to France by Mr Morin, a director of Bon Marché, to give to his wife as a present. Rebuilt exactly as it had been, in the gardens of a townhouse, it first opened as a ballroom, before becoming a cinema in 1931. It first closed for works in 1973, re-opening in 1979, and was closed again in 1997. It was the efforts of the Save The Pagoda foundation that led to being re-opened in November 2000.
